The Story of This Tea

This Mei Zhan comes from our family’s old-tree garden in Da Shui Keng, a place surrounded by bamboo forest and tall trees that keep the ecosystem healthy and vibrant. These Mei Zhan trees are about 40 years old and have not been pruned for over two decades, allowing them to grow naturally with strong, expressive character. This tea has never appeared on WuyiOrigin before. It was always booked in advance by wholesale customers, and only this spring did we decide to share a small amount online. Since 2015, the Cong 枞 note in this garden has become clearer each year. Although these trees are not old enough to be called Laocong, they already show the mossy, woody depth that reminds me of old-bush Shui Xian while retaining the sweet, elegant fragrance that defines Mei Zhan.

Aroma and Flavour

The first infusion reveals mossy wood and the gentle Cong fragrance that has developed naturally from the age and environment of the trees. As the leaves open, the sweetness becomes delicate and bright, showing the classic clarity of Mei Zhan. The lower–medium roast preserves the aroma beautifully, allowing you to sense the transformation of the leaves with every steep. Balanced, sweet, and quietly complex, this tea is a fresh yet grounded expression of old-tree Mei Zhan.

  • Aroma: Sweet wood, moss, light floral Mei Zhan fragrance
  • Flavor: Mossy–woody opening, gentle sweetness, clean and delicate
  • Texture: Smooth, light to medium body with clear structure
  • Aftertaste: Sweet, elegant, lightly lingering
  • Steeping Endurance: 7 to 9 infusions

Why Choose This Tea

This 2025 Mei Zhan offers the rare chance to enjoy old-tree material that has never before been sold publicly. The trees’ natural growth, rich environment, and increasing Cong character create a tea that bridges sweetness, mossy depth, and clear Mei Zhan fragrance. The lower–medium roast preserves nuance while allowing the full transformation of the leaves to shine. A beautiful choice for anyone who loves refined, expressive Wuyi Rock Tea.
