In the early 1960s, a small number of cinnamon trees were propagated through asexual cuttings in the former Chong'an Tea Factory's Famous Bush Observation Garden. Chong'an Tea Factory then began cultivating the variety. After repeated observation, experimentation, and quality assessment, researchers at the former Tea Research Institute discovered that this variety possessed excellent and stable quality. Therefore, after China's reform and opening up (1979), when tea plantations were distributed to households and farmers began to own their own tea plots, researchers at the Tea Research Institute began promoting this variety extensively. Consequently, the earliest wave of cinnamon cultivation began in Wuyi Mountain in the early 1980s.
This cinnamon tree originates from Wusandi Village in Wuyi Mountain, a high mountainous area with an average altitude of 800 meters. According to the owner, Mr. Wu, the cinnamon trees in his tea garden were planted in the early 1980s and are now about 40 years old. They are now called "old tree RouGui "
The aroma of Old tree cinnamon isn't as overpowering as that of new bush cinnamon, but it has a very direct, sharp, spicy cinnamon flavor that hits the palate with a powerful impact. This cinnamon tea is rich in flavor, At the same time, it has a very clear alpine ecological charm.
