The Story of This Tea

Huang Guanyin is a nationally approved oolong cultivar bred over two decades (1977–1997) by the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It unites two celebrated lineages: Tieguanyin (its mother) and Huangdan, also known as Huangjingui (its father). The result is a small-tree, mid-leaf, early-sprouting variety known for its glossy yellow-green leaves and balanced aroma.

When grown in the rocky soil of Wuyishan, Huang Guanyin is often called by its breeding number, No. 105. Processed as a Yancha, it offers both the floral brightness of its Anxi heritage and the mineral depth that defines authentic Wuyi Rock Tea. This 2025 batch from Liang Hua Peak was given a careful medium roast to preserve the cultivar’s natural sweetness while enriching its smooth, mellow body.

Aroma and Flavour

The liquor glows amber-gold, silky and full in the mouth. Its aroma combines orchid and light honey with roasted almond and mineral warmth, revealing gentle sweetness that lingers after each sip. A refined and balanced expression of both its parentage and terroir.

  • Flavor: Floral and lightly nutty with sweet mineral depth
