Feature :
Before 2017, tea farmers called high-grade Shoumei (Shoumei with obvious buds) as Gongmei. At that time, the grades of white tea were arranged as follows: Baihao Yinzhen, Bai Mudan, Gongmei, Shoumei.
In May 2018, the state implemented the new "National Standard for White Tea", which made a standard definition of "Gongmei": a white tea product made from the tender shoots of Qun Tizhong cultivar (in chinese is 群体种,in local we call that as Xiao Cai Cha 小菜茶 or TuCha 土茶 )through specific processes such as withering, drying, and sorting. It can be seen that Gongmei must meet two rigid conditions: one is that the raw material tree species must be Qunti zhong , and the second is that the picked leaves must be fresh leaves from tender shoots.
The raw materials of Gongmei are selected from the mountain field of Jinping Rotten Stone in Zhenghe County. Jinping Village is located at the border of Fujian and Zhejiang Province. The village is surrounded by high mountains and continuous steep mountains. It is full of spiritual beauty and is a "natural oxygen bar and summer resort". The ancient tea garden is located in the deep mountain canyon with an average altitude of 850 to 1,200 meters. The temperature difference between day and night is large, and the growth cycle of fresh leaves is long. The soil is differentiated from rotten stones formed by weathering and erosion of volcanic gravel and shale. The soil layer is thin, the rock is rich, and the content of organic minerals is high. The existing native tea trees, which are as old as a hundred years old, are the familiar "group species" that grow in the cracks of rocks. No one manages them and they are allowed to grow freely.
The superior geographical environment creates unique ecological conditions for tea trees, and continuously supplies the organic nutrients needed by tea trees. The unique climate and soil of the mountain field and the inherent diversity of the group species give this Gongmei a rich layered aroma and taste - the floral fragrance and sweet fragrance are intertwined, the fir flavor and the rock rhyme blend together, and it is mellow, full and sweet, and has strong penetrating power.
