The Story of This Tea

This rare Jin Jun Mei is crafted from the Huang Guan Yin cultivar, a modern hybrid of Tie Guan Yin and Huang Dan that is more commonly used for oolong teas. Its adaptation to black tea production is unusual but rewarding, yielding a cup with both elegance and strength.

The leaves come from Aotou Village in Jianyang, a mountainous area that borders the core Tongmu Guan region of the Wuyishan Nature Reserve. At 1000 meters altitude, the ecological conditions mirror those of Tongmu itself, with misty forests, rocky soils, and clean biodiversity. This terroir gives the tea a rich body, bright fragrance, and the distinctive “mountain yun” so prized in Wuyi teas.

Aroma and Flavour

  • Aroma: Floral fragrance layered with a natural spiciness

  • Flavour: Strong yet delicate, smooth and elegant with no bitterness even under long steeping

  • Texture: Thick, rich water quality with excellent clarity

  • Aftertaste: Lingering sweetness and a refined floral echo

  • Liquor: Bright golden-red, clean and vivid

The use of tender spring buds ensures purity and delicacy, while the processing preserves both the fragrance and strength of the cultivar.
