The Story of This Tea

Mei Zhan is a cultivar traditionally associated with Wuyi oolongs, but in recent years, more growers have begun crafting it into Jin Jun Mei with excellent results. This 2025 harvest comes from Feng Shui Guan, a high mountain area in the same range as Tongmuguan, sharing its pristine environment and rich biodiversity.

Only the first spring buds are picked, each plump and delicate, then hand-rolled with great care. Because the rolling is done by hand rather than machine, the shape may not be perfectly uniform, but this reflects the authenticity of artisan processing.

The Mei Zhan cultivar gives this Jin Jun Mei a condensed floral fragrance and a refreshing, rock sugar-like sweetness that distinguishes it from Cai Cha–based Jin Jun Mei.

Aroma and Flavour

  • Aroma: Rich and condensed floral fragrance that lingers in the liquor rather than the lid

  • Flavour: Refreshing, soft, and sweet, with clarity and balance

  • Texture: Smooth, neat, and elegant in the mouth

  • Aftertaste: Long-lasting rock sugar sweetness with a clean mountain finish

  • Liquor: Bright golden-red, clear and lively

This tea is both delicate and energetic, offering a pure expression of the Mei Zhan cultivar in black tea form.
