The Story of This Tea

Rou Gui, meaning “cinnamon,” first took root in Wuyi Mountain in the early 1980s after years of careful propagation and study by the former Chong’an Tea Factory. Our Wusandi Old Tree Rougui grows in a high mountain area around 800 m, where mist, rocky soil, and clean mountain air shape its distinctive strength. These trees were planted by local families when the land was first redistributed, and after forty years of deep rooting in mineral soil, they now yield leaves with both spice and maturity. This batch comes from Mr Wu’s garden in Wusandi, where traditional handcraft and ecological cultivation preserve the character of the old trees.

Aroma and Flavour

This Old Tree Rou Gui reveals the soul of Wuyi’s high mountains. The first sip carries a bright cinnamon spice that opens into warmth and sweetness, supported by woody depth and soft mineral clarity. Its fragrance is bold yet refined, and the lingering aftertaste feels both cooling and clean, like mountain air after rain.

  • Aroma: Cinnamon bark, dried fruit, and gentle charcoal warmth
  • Flavor: Spicy-sweet with woody depth, hints of baked stone fruit, and balanced minerality
  • Texture: Full-bodied and smooth, with a steady warming energy
  • Aftertaste: Long, cooling finish with sweet spice resonance
  • Steeping Endurance: 7 to 9 infusions
