Its origin traces back to Yongchun, Fujian, where legend tells of a temple garden whose tea trees bore large, thick leaves shaped like the Buddha’s open palm. These trees were later brought to Wuyishan, where local tea makers refined the processing and turned it into a classic Wuyi Rock Tea.

This Foshou comes from Da Shui Keng, a semi-rock (Ban Yan) garden surrounded by dense forest and clean mountain air. The mature trees here, over 40 years old, are of an arbor type. Tall, deep-rooted, and rich in vitality. Their leaves carry a distinct Cong wei (old tree aroma) that gives this tea its complex, layered depth.

Aroma and Flavour

This Buddha’s Hand oolong is celebrated for its elegant pear-like fragrance, known locally as “Snow Pear 香雪梨.” The flavour is naturally sweet, round, and refreshing, with a balance between floral fragrance and woody warmth typical of mature Wuyi bushes. The medium roast adds a smooth, toasty layer without overshadowing its bright fruit tone.

Aroma: Sweet pear, light floral notes, and soft roasted honey

Flavor: Balanced and clean, combining fresh fruit sweetness with mild woody depth

Texture: Smooth and medium-bodied with gentle minerality

Aftertaste: Lingering sweetness with cooling clarity and long yun

Steeping Endurance: 7 to 9 infusions

Brewing Guidelines

Gong Fu Style

Teaware: Zhuni 朱泥 or Hongni 红泥 teapot, or porcelain gaiwan for clarity

Ratio: 6–8 g per 100 ml water

Water: 95 – 100 °C, ideally soft spring water

Infusions: Quick rinse, then 5–7 s for the first brew, 8–10 s for the second, gradually extending time thereafter

Western Style

Teaware: Porcelain or glass teapot

Ratio: 3–4 g per 250 ml water

Water: Around 95 °C

Steeping: 2 ½–3 minutes for the first infusion; rebrew twice, extending steeping time slightly each round

Why Choose This Tea

Our Da Shui Keng Foshou captures the rare elegance of Buddha’s Hand Rock Tea—its pear-like “Snow Pear” fragrance, smooth sweetness, and signature Cong wei from mature, deep-rooted bushes.
